Romana Kawiak-Ciołak

Romana is a Vice President of the Institute of Internal Auditors IIA Poland, a manager and expert with many years of experience in the banking sector (NBP, PBK SA, BPH SA, BOŚ SA) and the IT sector (SAS Institute, COI). She specializes in designing, implementing, and enhancing internal/managerial control systems, including audit and risk management.

As a long-time department director, Romana effectively implemented, developed, and supervised internal audit and internal control departments, and successfully cooperated with management boards, supervisory boards, as well as regulatory and supervisory institutions.

Romana is the author of academic and expert publications in the fields of banking, risk management, and auditing, and a speaker and panelist at numerous industry conferences. She provides consulting, training, and mentoring, and conducts external quality assessments of internal audit in terms of compliance with the IIA International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

Romana holds a PhD in Economics (SGH) and international professional certifications, including in auditing (CIA, CRMA, QA), IT security (CCPF), artificial intelligence (EITCA/AI, CAIPF), digital transformation of the public sector (MPA-DT), and risk management in banks (WIB). She completed postgraduate studies in IT management (SGH), AI and security management (AZITAP), risk management in banks (WIB), and commercial bank management (SGH), as well as programs titled “Leader of Digital Transformation in Public Administration” and “Leader of AI and Security Management.”

Romana is actively involved in advancing knowledge and awareness in the area of effective risk management, audit, and control systems supported by modern technologies.
